First Home Finance A government housing programme designed to make owning your first home more affordable.
First Home Finance, formerly known as FLISP, offered by the Department of Human Settlements, enables sustainable and affordable first-time homeownership opportunities to qualifying applicants. First Home Finance gives successful applicants a subsidy of up to R 130 505. This can be used as a deposit on a home or as a lump sum payment into the bond account to reduce monthly instalments or for home loan-related costs and fees.
To qualify for First Home Finance, you must be:
A first-time home buyer with a monthly household income between R 3 501 and R 22 000.
The applicant must have a financial dependent.
Approved for a secured or unsecured home loan by a lender like SA Home Loans and have a letter confirming your approval.
A South African citizen with a valid ID or a permanent resident with a valid permit.
Over the age of 18 years and legally competent to enter into a contract.
A first-time applicant that has not benefited from a Government Housing Subsidy Scheme before.
Steps to apply
Apply for a home loan or an unsecured loan with SA Home Loans.
Once approved, a letter of acceptance will be issued to you.
Submit your First Home Finance grant paperwork together with your SA Home Loans approval to the NHFC (National Housing Finance Corporation) via the application portal or Provincial Department of Human Settlements, or speak to your SA Home Loans Sales Consultant to assist by facilitating the First Home Finance application process on your behalf.
